Typical Job
An NDT specialist is called on the job.
-
First the NDT specialist will inspect the area of interest and learn from the customer what his/her exact needs are for the job.
-
- The customer on this particular job needs to core one six inch hole in order to run conduit through the floor of the building. The customer has these prospect core holes marked out on the floor.
- The NDT specialist will then set up his radar equipment in order to scan the floor. While scanning, the NDT specialist will interpret the radar signals and use discretion to locate any utilities (electrical, plastics, sewer, etc.) or steel (post-tension, rebar etc.) in the concrete under prospect.
- The NDT specialist will then mark these utilities or steels for the customer to clearly read. This will let the customer directly core through the wall with without worry.
- BELOW: Example image of post-tension marked out in building basement with blue tape. This floor had a post-tension grid, the coring company was especially happy to have called out NDT as the voids in this wall were especially small.
